Royalty Splits

With Royalty Splits from Da Blessing Production (DBP), you can organize and share royalties with your collaborators in a clear and automated way. Set percentage splits for each contributor and let the system calculate everyone’s share directly inside your account.

What is the Royalty Splits feature?

The Royalty Splits tool lets you decide how income from a track is divided between contributors. As the track owner, you can assign individual percentages to collaborators such as artists, producers and other participants, so it’s always clear what part of the earnings belongs to each person.

Instead of using external spreadsheets or manual calculations, the tool keeps everything organized for you in one place. It provides automatic, real-time calculations based on your assigned percentages, so you can quickly understand how royalties are distributed without exporting CSV files every time.

Important: The splits you set are used only to calculate and display royalty shares within the DBP platform. The actual payments to each collaborator still need to be handled separately by the account owner.

1. Manage Splits

The Manage Splits area is where you set up and adjust how royalties are shared across your tracks.

  • Central Track Overview: All distributed tracks appear in a single list, usually ordered by release date, so your users can quickly see what is already configured.
  • Clear Status Labels: Each track shows a status such as “No contributors”, “No split”, or “Assigned”, making it easy to identify what still needs setup.
  • Fast Configuration: By clicking the Split button, the user can add contributors and assign their percentages (with a minimum split of 0.10%).
  • Default Ownership: Until collaborators are added, the track owner is automatically set to receive 100% of the royalties.
  • Flexible Contributor Management: Contributors can be added, edited, or removed at any time to keep revenue sharing accurate as situations change.
  • Guided Experience: If a user doesn’t have any releases yet, the system can guide them to their catalog so they can first upload and distribute music.

2. Earnings by Splits

The Earnings by Splits section turns your configured splits into clear, easy-to-read reports.

  • On-Screen Reports: Choose a month and year (up to the latest confirmation period) to see your earnings calculated directly on the page—no immediate need to download files.
  • Detailed Views: Check the total amount earned, and then review each track with contributor names, their percentages, and the corresponding amounts.
  • Report History: Previously generated reports are kept as a reference. If a report is updated, the new version replaces the old one automatically.
  • CSV Export: When you need offline records or want to do further analysis, you can download the report as a CSV file.
  • Processing Status: Each report includes a status indicator such as Processing, Available, or Error, so you know whether the data is ready to view or still being prepared.

Considerations

  • Royalty Splits is applied only to royalties that are confirmed and assigned to the track owner (the user who uploads and owns the master recording).
  • Contributor roles (for example, “artist” or “producer”) are not yet displayed in the interface. This extra layer of detail will be added in future updates.
  • The splits you assign affect how royalties are calculated and shown on the DBP platform, but they do not automatically trigger payments to collaborators. The account owner is responsible for actually paying each party.
  • Royalty Splits currently covers royalties collected by Da Blessing Production (DBP) for neighboring and mechanical rights. It does not include publishing or composition royalties.

How to Use Royalty Splits

  1. Open the feature: Log in to your user account and go to Royalties → Royalty Splits to access the tool.
  2. Set up your splits: In the Manage Splits section, choose the track you want to configure and click Split. Add your contributors and assign percentage shares. Make sure the total adds up to 100%, especially if the track owner is not meant to receive a share.
  3. View earnings by splits: Go to the Earnings by Splits tab. Select the month and year you want to review. The system will show a summary and a detailed breakdown per track and contributor.
  4. Download reports (optional): If you need an offline copy, accounting backup, or want to share numbers with your team, use the download option to export the report as a CSV file.
